KINDNESS CLUB

WHO: Students in grades K-6 can apply to participate on the Kindness Action Team

WHY: To provide students with service opportunities as well as complete random acts of kindness.

WHAT: A council of students in 6th grade (these council members have already been selected) will lead the action team by planning and organizing opportunities for members. Members will help carry out the monthly activities.

WHEN: Members will need to be able to meet on the second Thursday of each month at 3:10 PM (meetings are no longer than 50 minutes).

WHERE: Will be announced

FLAG COMMITTEE ACTION TEAM

WHO: Students in grades 3-6

WHY: Students will learn respect, honor and how to care for the American Flag.

WHAT: Members will assist our custodian, Mr. Mike, in attaching and raising the flag each morning.

WHEN: A schedule will be created for the students to know which day of the week they are scheduled to help in the morning. Members of this action team will need to be able to meet in front of the school at 8:00AM on their scheduled day.

WHERE: In front of Jordan Ridge Elementary

GARDENING CLUB ACTION TEAM

WHO: All Students K-6

WHY: Learn about gardening including weeding, planting, landscape and industry

WHAT: Maintain the leadership garden. You will be getting your hands dirty, unless it is too cold. If that is the case, there will be a garden activity in Mrs. Christensen's room.

WHEN: Various Monday afternoons (will be announced) at 3:15PM to 4:00PM, twice a month in the winter months, and every week in the warmer seasons.

WHERE: The leadership garden is located on the west side of the building between the K/1st grade and 6th grade halls. We will meet at the garden or in Mrs. Christensen's room.

LOST & FOUND ACTION TEAM

WHO: All Students 2-6

WHY: The Lost & Found area fills up very quickly. We need helpers who can help thin-out and organize this area to make room for more.

WHAT: Organize lost and found items, search items for names and help get them back to their owners, return equipment to teachers, if necessary. The items that are unclaimed on the last Friday of each month are donated.

WHEN: Each member will be assigned to certain Fridays, when they will stay after school for about 10 minutes.

WHERE: The Lost & Found area, in the front lobby of Jordan Ridge Elementary

BATHROOM ACTION TEAM

WHO: All students K-6

WHY: Help Mr. Mike maintain each of the school's bathrooms while also working for the chance to earn a bathroom makeover.

WHAT: Each grade will have a student action team made up of girls and boys. They will fairly, honestly, and seriously evaluate the cleanliness of grade level student bathrooms using five guidelines:
-All toilets flushed
-All trash picked up and put in the garbage cans
-No writing or marks of any kind on the stall doors, countertops, and walls
-Sinks & floors are free from puddles of water
-Faucets are turned off after use
Student Action Teams will collect data, display information, and encourage friends to earn this amazing remodel. 

WHEN: After school for a few minutes to evaluate

FACILITATORS in each grade

SOARING LEADER BUILDERS ACTION TEAM

WHO: Students 1-6 can apply to be on the Soaring Leader Builders Team 

WHY: This year students are able to earn Habits Buttons as they work toward earning the Soaring Leader Award. 

WHAT: This action team will help create the Habits Buttons for each of the habits for the Soaring Leader Award. They should also work on spreading the word of the Habits Buttons to their classmates. 

WHEN: Various times - select your preference on the form. We will need more help at the beginning of the year but later in the year we will meet occasionally, as needed.

WHERE: Miss Fiso's classroom (Room 10)

SAFETY LEADER TEAM - FULL

WHO: 5th & 6th Grade Students

WHY: Serve your school by ensuring the safety of the students, teachers, and parents as they come to and leave school each day.

WHAT: This job is a serious responsibility. Below are the rules that Safety Leadership Team members must follow in order to remain on our Safety Leadership Team:

1. Be proactive! You must be at your position ON TIME! If you are not on patrol on time, another student will fill your position.

2. While on duty, Safety Leaders must be attentive, responsible, kind and helpful. Therefore, any member reported to be "messing around," jeopardizing the safety of others or treating other students disrespectfully will be given a strike.

3. As a Safety Leader, your responsibility to your school is highly important! You should be at school and on time as often as possible. You should be consistent in turning in projects and homework and should not break any school rules. Students that have a consistent issue with any of these requirements may be removed from the Safety Leadership Team.

4. Safety Leadership Team members have a "Two Strikes and You're Out" rule. This means that if you miss two duty times, without notifying your group Captain or teacher ahead of time, you will be removed from our Safety Leadership Team.

Because of the long-term commitment required, there will be periodic rewards for all members of our Safety Leadership Team that meet the requirements listed above.

WHEN: 5th grade duty begins at 8:10AM and ends at 8:25AM; 6th grade duty begins at 2:55PM and ends at 3:15PM.

HOW: APPLICATIONS ARE NOT BEING ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME

JORDAN RIDGE BAND - FULL

WHO: 4th - 6th Graders
WHAT: Beginner & Advanced learning of flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or percussion; BRING YOUR OWN INSTRUMENTS

WHEN:Sign Up by the first week of October Each Year
All classes begin at 7:30AM
Beginning band members meet Monday and Wednesday
Advanced band members meet Tuesday and Thursday
Percussion also meets Fridays in addition to their regular instruction days

WHERE: Jordan Ridge gym

HOW: APPLICATIONS NOT BEING ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME

COST: $200 for the year/$100 per semester

Beginning orchestra members meet Monday and Wednesday
Advanced orchestra members meet Tuesday and Thursday

WHERE: Elk Meadows Elementary

COST: $200 for the year/$100 per semester

JORDAN RIDGE CHOIR

WHO: Students from 3rd - 6th grade

WHY: Regular music instruction has academic, mental, and social benefitsfor students. *Learning music has been shown to improve grades and academic success. Singing lowers stress and provides a network of emotional support as children work together to create music. Choir members are shown to have an increase in self confidence, are able to express themselves better, and helps students get along better with others.

WHAT: We will play drama games and stretch our acting muscles as we cast a show and rehearse it. This is a fun Drama intensive and requires focus and dedication.

WHEN: We BEGIN at 7:45AM every Thursday, so plan on being there BY 7:40AM. It is important for you to come to all the practices and be on time. We will be keeping attendance this year and each choir member will be allowed two unexcused absences. If you are sick or out of town, let us know so we can excuse your absence.

WHERE: Jordan Ridge gym
